“I was inspired to give because being a (classic) liberal, I believe in honest debate and a search for the truth, and I feel I can no longer depend for those things on media sources that I used to depend on.”—Jonathan from California
This is high praise—and it comes from one of the many readers who have found RealClearInvestigations (RCI) a cause worthy of their financial support.
As VP of the RealClearFoundation, the nonprofit organization that works in partnership with RealClearPolitics to power RCI, I have been personally inspired not just by donors’ generosity but also by the reasons they have expressed for contributing.
A recurring theme I hear from donors is that RCI addresses a void in today’s polarized, hyper-partisan mediascape.
Meg from Florida says, “I appreciate the nonpartisan nature of the reporting…. It is amazingly refreshing to find that real investigative reporting continues to exist.” John from Tennessee found that an RCI report that he had read “represented the very best of journalism … because it spoke the unvarnished truth without regard to who would or would not like to read it.” And Neil from California viewed his donation as “an investment in the maintenance of our democracy by developing fact-based stories that are important.”
It is also very encouraging when we receive donations from former journalists who view RCI as exemplifying the best of their craft. Richard from California, who began his writing career at the New York Post and who credits Dwight Macdonald as a mentor, says, “Reporting to me was shoe leather, face-to-face, on the street, being where it happened…. It is now a lost art. Whenever I see sites like RealClearInvestigations pop up, my faith in the absolutely necessary free press is restored, and I feel the need to endorse it.”
If these sentiments resonate with your experience of RCI’s investigative reporting, please consider joining readers like Jonathan, Meg, John, Neil, and Richard and help fuel our mission.
