Unlike gauze bandages, the tilapia skin stays on during the healing process, sparing patients the pain of daily rewrapping. The United States already has a supply of human skin, pig skin, and artificial alternatives for burn care, but in countries like Brazil that don't have those resources, tilapia skin could be big.
