“She preyed on the fact I was coming into puberty and made me feel important and special,” says one victim of a type of sexual abuse that gets almost no attention: mothers who rape their sons. University of Canberra researcher Lucetta Thomas is shedding light on the problem. Ninety-four men abused by their mothers filled out online surveys, and of that number, she then interviewed 23 at length. This article follows up with some of the victims.

“I can remember what her vagina felt like, I can remember what her body felt like and I as a child felt all yucky about it,” he recalls. ...
